The C-123 is an exceptionally well-built, highly versatile aircraft. With the new Allison Turboprop engines installed, it has a tremendous climb rate and short takeoff and landing distance capability. These qualities make this the perfect aircraft for numerous missions.

Cargo Operations

The C-123T is ideal for specialized cargo operations requiring short field and rough terrain landing capabilitiies. Oversized cargo can be easily loaded through the aft loading ramp. The aircraft can operate with the aft ramp open with cargo extending out of the cargo bay.

Military Transport

The C-123T can be fitted to carry up to 60 fully equiped troops or a combination of troops and motorized equipment. The high performance turboprops and short field capabilities allow for rapid deployment and extraction in all types of field requiements.

Air-to-Air Refueling

A special air refueling version of the C-123T is being developed for those military requirements when the larger C-130 tankers are not available or are simply to expensive to operate for the mission.

Airborne Spraying and
Firefighting

A UC-123K was used for spraying for Mosquitos at Fort Stewart, Georgia during 1976 and for dispensing a plant-defoliant over the Vietnamese jungle during the Viet Nam war. The 24th Special Operations Squadron used the aircraft for spraying tear gas to warn or disrupt riots in Panama.

The C-123T can be modified for airborne spraying for fire fighting and other applications.

Varieties of Terrain

In 1955, the C-123 was outfitted with skis and pantoons for water operations. During flight tests at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, it was able to lift off of the water at a speed of some 20 knots.

In 1957, the aircraft was modified to use a retractable ski system attached to the landing gear for snow operations. These aircraft were first used by the Strategic Air Command in Newfoundland and later transfered to the Alaskan Air National Guard.

The C-123 was evaluated under desert conditions in 1963. A wide track landing gear system was used to increase stability on the ground. The YC-123H was used extensively in South Vietnam, sometimes flying into fields as short as 880 ft.

The C-123T can easily be modified for similiar requirements.
